How do you organize a successful team outing?
We often get the question, "What is really a good idea for a team outing?" Fortunately, we as GameMasters at ClashRooms have seen hundreds of groups come by now. And believe us: we've seen it all. From hilariously well-organized outings to total chaos.
Five tips from experienced GameMasters
1. Don't let the program be too tight
There are groups that have created an Excel roster including 7-minute coffee breaks. Nice try, but keep it loose. Spontaneity often makes for the most fun moments.
2. Provide mixed teams
Always fun when the HR department suddenly finds itself up against IT. And also often surprising who is secretly fanatical. (Spoiler: it's almost always that quiet colleague from accounting.)
3. Don't drink too much beforehand
One wine is cozy. Three wines before the quiz leads to muddled answers and teams trying to eat the buzzer. Just saying.
4. Don't get too serious
It's not a job interview. Teams that take everything too seriously often miss the fun. And believe us: even if you come in last, you can have the funniest stories.
5. Leave room for goofiness
Some groups are about the game; many are purely about the fun. And they test out the GameMaster. In every possible way, we've seen all the craziness. But ... hilarious! And: no GameMaster who doesn't love that.
